  Enfields Leeds is proud to announce that they have become a corporate sponsor of The Children's Heart Surgery Fund.
  
  The Children's Heart Surgery Fund (CHFS) is a registered charity based at the Yorkshire Heart Centre in Leeds General Infirmary. The centre covers Yorkshire, Humberside and the North Midlands.
  
  The CHSF funds valuable equipment, resources and research for the treatment of children with heart defects and provides a happy and relaxed atmosphere within the hospital for both the children and their families.
  
  Every year 10,000 children pass through the paediatric heart unit at the LGI and approximately 330 of these undergo open heart surgery. Over 40% will need long term care. The charity's aim is to ensure that these children have the best possible chance of survival. Their hope is to give 'each child a childhood'; their dream is to give them an adulthood.
  
  By appointing the CHSF as their charity partner Enfields are pledging to a programme of fundraising events over the coming months.
  
  The CHSF was chosen by the Enfields, Roundhay based team because Manager Chris Heaps witnessed the organisation's invaluable work first hand when his own daughter was diagnosed with a Ventricular Septal Defect shortly after her birth in 2002.
  
  Molly was born to Chris and his wife Claire on the 1st June 2002 at 02:07. A wonderful and beautiful girl who fulfilled all their dreams and wishes. When the Pediatrician examined Molly a heart murmur was detected and after a second opinion the family was referred to Pediatric Cardiac Unit at Leeds General Infirmary.
  
  It was here that Molly's diagnosis was made. The doctors were quick to explain that Molly had a small hole in her heart that didn't require surgery and that in most cases such as Molly's the hole closes up as the child grows. They also stressed that with the exception of a couple of conditions Molly would lead a very normal life. Chris and Claire's worries began to lift a little.
  
  It was during this traumatic experience and subsequent visits to the hospital that Chris became aware of the work the CHFS does for local children and their families. At that point Chris made a personal pledge to give something back to the hospital ward that cared so much for his own daughter.
